Ascension Parish Hazardous Materials Collection Day

Ascension Parish Hazardous Materials Collection Day

If you are considering selling your home, decluttering can be a huge part of the preparation. Ascension Parish is hosting a household hazardous materials collection day on Saturday, June 2nd from 9am-1 pm. The event will be held at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center located at 9039 St. Landry Road in Gonzales (Barn 6). This is an excellent opportunity to clean the garage and get rid of old tires, gasoline, oil, antifreeze, paints, varnishes, and other household chemicals. Buyers want to see the space your home offers which is hard to do if you have wall to wall stuff. Use this event to get rid of old electronics that are stuffed in closets and attics collecting dust. Electronic equipment being accepted includes batteries, cell phones, ink and toner cartridges, televisions, telephones, video cameras, DVD and VHS players (hopefully the VHS system is long gone), computers, fax machines, video gaming devices, monitors, and printers.
According to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, items that will not be accepted include explosives, radioactive materials, medical waste, asbestos, high school lab waste, commercial and governmental facility waste, paper, magazines, newspaper, cardboard, aluminum cans, plastic and glass, hurricane debris or woody waste.
Marketing your Ascension Parish Home will be much easier and usually faster once your home is clean and clutter free! This is a great opportunity to help your community, the environment, and yourself!
This event is for Ascension Parish residents only and will require a valid ID.
